Position #1: Java Performance Engineer
Skills Needed: Java/JSP, XML, Struts/Servlets, EJB, JMS, JDBC, Web Services, Ant, JUnit/HTTPUnit and Unix Experience: 3 to 7 years
We are looking for a software performance engineer to join our team and take on a number of responsibilities that keep the team running on a day to day basis. The scope of the work varies from project to project. One project will be to work on our Fusion framework. Fusion is an internal development platform at Blackboard used for workflow and automation. It is primarily written in Ant and Java. All of the development teams at Blackboard make use of Fusion and contribute code like an Open Source project. This project is about 3 months of focused development, which would then transition into maintenance and enhancements for the rest of the year.
The second project (which could be done in parallel with the first project) is to take on development of our Performance Data Generator. The Performance Data Generator is called clp-datagen. It is a subset of Java and XML configuration files that generate usable data for performance testing within the product. This project touches nearly every single piece of code in the product, specifically making use of much of our API infrastructure to create time-based data representations. This will be a 12 month project primarily maintenance. There will be periods of new development as the product changes.
The third project is a stretch project if the first two are done with exceptional success. This project would be to perform sweeps in areas of the application in search of performance anti-patterns. Essentially the DC team will identify deficiencies in the product that are underperforming. The assigned engineer will be responsible for identifying areas of the code that exhibit the same problems. He/she will then be responsible for refactoring the code based on development guidance from the DC team. They will also be responsible for quantifying their improvement through the use of a focused performance tests based on our JUnitPerf testing framework.
Position #2: Database Performance Engineer
Skills Needed: Oracle (PL/SQL), SQL-Server (T-SQL), Unix and Windows Experience: 3 to 7 years
We are looking for a Database performance engineer who will work on both Oracle and SQL-Server. They must be comfortable with both platforms and have experience with both platforms. Their primary project will be to review different instrumentation reports such AWR, Statspack, 10046 kernel traces, SQL Server Performance Report and Quest Database Performance Analysis tool sets. They will be studying patterns of frequency/execution of different SQL Statements seen in our performance tests executed by the DC team and the Hyderabad team. This project includes studying the performance of the Bb SQL by studying cost execution plans. This engineer will be expected to call-out poorly performing SQL. He/she will be responsible for making recommendations to the Bb schema to optimize performance. He/she will be asked to refactor poorly performing SQL.
The engineer will take on other projects at times besides studying results of performance tests. He/she will be asked to develop their own micro-benchmarks specifically focused on database performance. We have access to every single Quest Software product. One product in particular we can use is Benchmark Factory which is a great tool for developing a database-specific benchmark. He/she will be asked to develop a database benchmark Other projects include developing database tool sets (SQL, Custom Reports, etc…) used to simplify the quantification of database performance. 公司待遇,环境,发展各方面都不错,欢迎大家的加入!
