System Requirements: * Pentium 133 MHz or higher * Windows NT, Release Level 4.0 (Service Pack #6a, or higher) * 128MB RAM * 406 MB Available Disk Space (Typical Install)
Installation Instructions: Before starting the installation you should access and read the Installation Guide at:
http://www.sybase.com/support/manuals
- From pulldown menu select "Adaptive Server Enterprise"
- Select "Installation and Configuration"
- Select "Adaptive Server Enterprise 12.5.1"
This installation guide provides general installation and configuration instructions. You should follow these instructions during the product installation.
Below are additional installation instructions specific to this Software:
1. To ensure compatibility with all utilities, do not use spaces or exceed eight characters in the name of the installation directory or its subdirectories.
2. During the Install you may encounter an error message about a missing dll clusapi.dll. You can ignore this unless you intend to run the High Availability (HA) functions. If you do intend to run HA, then you will need to install on an NT Server Cluster configuration, which should already include the clusapi.dll.
3. Follow the instructions in the Installation Guide. A specific License Authorization Key has been generated for your timed evaluation usage and will be sent to you via e-mail. When running the lmgr script or using the Sybase Software Asset Management shortcut on Windows, select ASE for license type rather than ASE_DEMO.
Then click "Continue Install" and proceed with configuring Adaptive Server Enterprise, as described in the Installation Guide.

Clicking on the links above will download self-extracting executable files. You can now proceed with the installation.
This package installs all binary server components required to run Adaptive Server, Backup Server, XP Server, and related utilities and tools for database development and maintenance. Please note that ASE is certified on NT 4.0 and Windows 2000 only (it is not certified on Windows XP).
1. Once you have downloaded the executables, extract the install files by double-clicking on the executables and specify a temporary extract folder (e.g., C:\Temp\InstallASE) to extract the install files when prompted by the unzip utility. (Please extract the server and client executables to different folders, so that they can be installed separately).
2. Using Windows Explorer, open the folder into which you have extracted the files in the above step. (e.g., Use the Windows task bar and enter: Start | Run, enter the extract folder name as: c:\temp\InstallASE and click OK).
3. Launch the Installer by double clicking on the setup.exe icon in this directory.
Refer to the Installation Guide and Release Bulletin for detailed installation tasks.
Warning! Do not attempt to set the target Installation Directory to the same directory where the Installer (extract folder) is located. It will attempt to overwrite itself during the install and the installation will fail. |
